Admission & Next Steps

Kishwaukee College has an "open door" admission policy and admission is open to all in district residents of the Community College District 523. Kishwaukee College District 523 Map

Registering for classes at Kishwaukee College is easy. Just follow the simple, step-by-step instructions below.

If you are a former Kishwaukee College student that has attended within the past 2 years, your records are still in the system and you can continue to Step 2. If it has been OVER 2 years since last attending Kishwaukee College then start at Step 1.

Step 1 - Apply for Admission

Submit the Student Information Form and official transcripts to Student Services C2100.

Kishwaukee College has an open admissions policy, everyone is welcome! All new students, including dual credit and students who have been inactive for two years or more should complete the Student Information Form online. Or view the PDF version Student Information Form.

Please submit all official transcripts from high school, GED, military and/or any former colleges or universities to Student Services C2100, in order to complete the admission process. Visiting Students only need to submit unofficial transcripts if needed for prerequisite proof and Request for prerequisite evaluation form. Contact Student Services at 815-825-9375.

Step 2 - Apply for Financial Aid

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - FAFSA. The Kishwaukee College School code is 007684. Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, if possible, for more accuracy.  Complete the financial aid forms. Learn more about Kishwaukee College Scholarship opportunities. Step 3 - Determine Placement

Placement into college-level courses can be determined by previous college coursework, Advanced Placement and CLEP scores, ACT scores, SAT scores, or high school GPA. All test scores and GPA must be within 3 years. Please visit the Placement Test Webpage for criteria. If applicable, college and score transcripts should be submitted to Student Services C2100. Students who do not meet the criteria for a waiver can schedule a placement exam by contacting Student Services at 815-825-9375.

Step 4 - Schedule Academic Advising

Meet with an Academic Advisor if necessary. An appointment can be made by calling Student Services at 815-825-9375.

Step 5 - Register for Classes and Pay Tuition

Register online through your student portal (myKC) or in person in Student Services C2100. For questions about registration, please contact Student Services at 815-825-9375. For payment options, go to myKC or visit the Business Office C2140. Payments must be received prior to the tuition due date, check your myKC for important dates and deadlines. For questions, contact the Business Office at 815-825-9400.

Step 6 - Attend New Student Orientation (NSO): The Kish Connection

myKC: How the College Communicates

As a new student, it is important to set up your myKC account in order to receive communications from the College. After your initial admissions letter, communications you receive from the College are available in your myKC account.

With myKC, you can:

  • Make payments
  • Enroll in a payment plan

To set up your account, you will need your 7-digit student ID number (found on your admissions letter, this number starts with a zero).

Have you already activated your account, but can’t find your password? The College cannot retrieve your passcode; however, you can call the Help Desk at 815-825-9888 to reset your account.
