Interlibrary Loan

Need an item that Kish does not own? To borrow items from college libraries all across Illinois, use the myKC portal Library page to make your request through the I-Share system! Our staff will contact you when it arrives at the Library. Please allow up to 2 weeks for your item to arrive. You’ll need to return or renew items by the due date listed. For more information, please call the Library at 815-825-9330, or visit the Reference Desk.

Most books and articles can be located at other libraries and delivered to the Kishwaukee Library within two weeks.


Interlibrary Loan for Community Users

Search for your item in libraries all over the world with the WorldCat catalog!

When you find the item you want in WorldCat, click on the title link and then:

  1. Click the “ILL” button at the top of the page
  2. Enter your first name, last name, and telephone number. For article requests, please enter an email address; we may be able to send you an electronic copy
  3. Click Submit

A Kishwaukee College Library staff member will order your item, and we will contact you when it arrives. Please allow up to 2 weeks for books and at least a week for article requests. You’ll need to return or renew books by the due date listed; copies of articles are yours to keep. For more information, please call the Library at 815-825-9330, or visit the Reference Desk.

Course Reserves

Materials placed in the Reserve Collection by your instructor are at the Circulation Desk. Loan periods are set by your instructor.  The list of materials on Reserve for your class can be seen on this web site at the Course Reserve link in Library SmartSearch.

College ID Cards & Community Library Cards

IDs are made in the Library. A photo ID, such as a State ID or Driver's License, and established student status, such as a student schedule, are needed to obtain a College ID. There is no charge for the original card. A fee of $10.00 will be charged to replace a lost card.

For a Community Library Card, a person needs a photo ID, such as a State Driver's License, and proof of residency within Kishwaukee College's District, such as a utility bill or apartment rental agreement. Any resident 17 or older of the college district may request a Community Library Card to receive library services.

A Kishwaukee College Photo ID or a Library Community Card is required to check out Library materials.

I-Share Patrons

College students and staff affiliated with any of the I-Share Libraries in Illinois are welcome to check out books and materials from the Kishwaukee College collection.  You will just need your college ID/Library card and at least one photo ID.  Please make an appointment for curbside pickup in Lot B near Door 58.   

Loan Periods

Most materials are checked out for four weeks. Print items may be renewed twice if no waiting list exists. Check out periods for Reserve items are set by the instructor. You may check out as many circulating items as you need. Reference materials must remain in the library. Print items may be renewed. All items may be renewed by phone at 815-825-9330, or online through My Account.

Fines & Lost Materials Fees

The library does not charge overdue fines. After a grace period, you will be billed for the replacement cost of the book or item plus a $10.00 non-refundable processing fee. You may be charged more for Reserve items.

Curbside Pickup
  1. Search in Library SmartSearch for the physical item you want to check out. 
  2. Place request for Kish item or I-Share item.
  3. Wait for email notification or notice in My Account in Library SmartSearch that item is available for pickup.
  4. Schedule a curbside pickup appointment at Curbside Pickup is located in Lot B near Door 58.

Please note: appointments must be made at least 2 hours in advance of when you want to pick up your item(s), and cancellations must be made at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled appointment.

Book Return Drop Box

Library books may be returned in the brown outdoor college drop box located under the light by the curb near the flag pole at the main entrance (door 6).
